This braid, originally named Looped Zigzag, appears in Makiko Tada’s first disk and plate book (CTB:VI). While the book shows a single braid version, this multi-braid variation has been renamed Coral Necklace for its resemblance to branching coral. The original instructions omit some details—perhaps intentionally, as Makiko often encourages students to explore and learn through experience. I was fortunate to learn this braid directly from her and have since developed my own set of instructions, which she has kindly given me permission to share.
